CharityVillage, the #1 job board and resource hub for the Canadian nonprofit sector celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2025. As is necessary for any birthday — some celebration was required. In the branding department, of course.
It was a joy to work with their iconic hummingbird logo and tangerine/turquoise scheme to create something fresh, while paying homage to the past. It started with the brand mark, and elements that would be used across digital, print, and merch. Using the classic CV font and hummingbird icon, it quickly came to me how they gel together seamlessly for the logo you see all over this project. Then came the other elements, trying to bring reminders of the company’s roots in the 90s while staying true to the overall theme.
Going hand in hand with several new platform launches, the logo brought it all together as a reminder of the past, but also the years that lie ahead.
Another massive undertaking was the creation of the 30 years documentary, to be shown off at the company’s annual conference and awards in December. In collaboration with the company’s president, we sourced interviews from past figures in the company, reflecting on the journey so far and what lies ahead.
Mixed with precision audio and visual editing, graphics, animations, and sourcing clips, this was a project I relished in, and brought a wonderful cap off to the 30th year.
It was an honor to mix design, branding, video, and storytelling, to be the straw that stirred the drink — to bring to life the legacy of such an established brand. It was the highest of privileges to have been the one to help bring this vision to life. See you at 50?
